Fecal Coliform Calculators

IN the TOC are fecal coliform calculators. There are links on the calculator forms for tools to provide useful information. Also, great information can be located from the Web Soil Survey web map.  Using the Web Soil Survey: Either use the tools on the map interface to zoom in to the desired location or use the Quick Navigation on the sidebar to locate your area by address, county, or state. Once you have found the desired location, use the AOI tool to draw a box or polygon around it. This will give you and AOI and you will be able to find the acerage calculated for you on the AOI information sidebar. Record the total acerage. Create an AOI for each land use type and record the acerage in the categories provideded on the calcutaor form. Record the Annual Precipitation for your AOI: Use the precipitation data link or information from your local weather station to find out the average annual precipitation in your area. Record the number in inches. * note that the default value is 1 inch of annual precipitation. Non Point Source Calculator: Enter the total acres for each land use type and the annual precipitation for the area of interst (AOI). Click the Calculate Total FC Button. Point Source Calculator: Record the number of each type of animal, septic system, or piped sewage systems in your area. The Livestock Census link will help you estimate the number of livestock expected to be found in your location. Record the total of acres from your AOI. Click the Calculate Yearly Total FC Load Button.
